being present...

Because I am a late night blogger, and because it is technically October 1st. I get to post a cool post tonight. I'm guessing this won't be the only time you read this challenge today.

Stacy Julian is at it again...challenging us to look at things in new ways. The challenge is to give yourself a present...and she has enlisted a whole army of bloggers to get you to join the challenge.

I hope that you will take a few minutes and play along. It is so easy to get caught up in the big projects we want to create, or in day to day life without creating at all (Moriah, I'm talking to you)

So are you ready? Here is the challenge:

You have everything you need right now to be vibrant and fully engaged in the creative process. Sometimes you just have to slow down, look around and realize it!

Holy Cow...

I almost went to bed without blogging. I honestly think I'm to tired to make any sense. This is going to be a pretty crazy week, so I'm going to get to bed....and yes, I am totally going to cheat and post this as of 11:59 pm on Sept 29 when it is really 12:45am on Sept 30.

A fun day...

I'm actually really glad that Moriah ok Geoff or whoever left behind Moriah's bags because today was really fun.

A few photos....

I took a ton of this jellyfish tank...I just couldn't get enough of it.

I kept thinking this shiny school of fish was going to start making itself into shapes like in the Nemo movie...they were really mesmerizing and cool!

There was a lot to see!

I was so happy to get this genuine look of excitement on Todd's face while we were hanging out under the "waves".

We were lucky enough to be there when the diver went into the tank to feed the fish.

The coolest thing was that Todd really wanted to bring his little camera. He ran around the aquarium so serious about his "photography" and I loved watching him.

He did a pretty great job too. He was so excited to look at the photos he took and he kept telling me what a great photographer he was. He then went on and on about how his camera had a hard time "with that light" and that maybe he needed a better camera for Christmas. Yes that is my boy isn't it?

unexpected adventure on tap...

So we had Alex for an overnight visit last night, while Geoff and Moriah were out gallavanting!

This morning we all got up and went to Todd's soccer game bright and early. When we got home Geoff and Moriah were waiting in my driveway. I could see as soon as I turned the corner that Moriah was on the phone, and from her body language I could tell that she was not a happy girl.

Apparently one of her bags was left behind in Monterey. So we are going to take advantage of it and go on a little family adventure to the aquarium tomorrow to pick it up.

the walk...

so here are the rest of my photos from our walk yesterday morning. How ridiculously beautiful is this? I know how lucky I am...but even still looking at these photos I'm reminded just how lucky.

Today I didn't make it in the morning so I had a tag along bike riding boy with me. I didn't take my camera but I wish I would have. He was so good and we had so much fun together I think we'll be doing it again soon.

Meanwhile...

not much time tonight....

After school I came right home and watched Greys on Tivo and now as much as I'd love to type more, I have a date with this in the morning.

Yes...I've been walking, and it is ridiculous how wonderful it is. I took lots of photos this morning and will share more tomorrow.

what am I going to do with this kid...

I picked him up from school today and got the story about his first trip to the school office. The story began with the proclamation that another boy bit him. Which was unsettling to say the least, but there was no mark...and as the story continued I heard about the wrestling that had been going on just prior. For Pete's sake...a month into Kindergarten and he is wrestling at school and being sent to the office.

So the "ladies in the office had a talk" with them and they just "got a warning and didn't have to talk to the principal". I did talk to the teacher and there is a zero tolerance policy for biting, but by the time the boys had sung like birds about all of the wresting, no one was really sure how much biting occurred.

Needless to say, there is an expectation that he learned his lesson and will be keeping his hands to himself at all costs. How are we going to make it until college?

Speaking of college...doesn't he look like he's already graduated in these photos? I couldn't resist this shirt and tie at Old Navy the other day. I'm not really sure what we are saving it for... but today he wanted to try it on and since he owed me big time, I got him to pose for a few minutes.

It was all his idea to add the graduation jacket to look like a "tuxedo". Where does he get this stuff?

I'm too busy drooling over Simon Baker and can't take my eyes off the screen long enough to type anything interesting.

Tiger

Last night Todd was playing a computer game, Matt was reading a golf magazine and I was doing some work on the computer.

Matt's magazine was open to a big picture of Tiger Woods. Todd caught a glimpse of it and said..."Hey Dad, that reminds me....when is Tiger coming back from his knee surgery?"

I didn't realize that boy of mine was so up on current events.

Fall TV....

I LOVE Fall TV...I actually love this week leading up to fall tv...even though it bugs me that there is nothing worth watching on, and all of those tantalizing ads just taunting me about what I could be watching soon, there is something about the anticipation that I enjoy.

I remember as a kid getting the Fall Preview TV guide and going through and circling what I wanted to watch on each night. I remember things like Happy Days, Laverne and Shirley, the Love Boat and Family being on the list. Family was on later than my usual bedtime, but my mom would let me watch it because she knew how much I loved it.

I often think how strange it is that Todd won't grow up in a world without TIVO...he won't have to choose what to watch on TV knowing that the thing he didn't choose to watch will be gone forever. He won't know the challenge of running down a hallway to pee and getting back to the couch before the commercials are over.

Sigh...I'm an old fuddy duddy that used to have to change the channel manually. My son will never believe it!

So anyway...Fall TV....I'm excited to get back to where many of my favorites left off...and to check out some new shows too.
