shooting the moon...

so tonight was the biggest fullest moon of the year and Moriah and I both decided to tackle trying to photograph it.

We were outside in my driveway and Todd went racing into the house and came back out with his little camera. He was completely disgusted that he didn't have enough "zoom" and that his camera was for "babies".

So after Moriah went home I let him take a couple of shots with my camera, but I had the big lens on and it was heavy and he was having a hard time getting it to focus. He was frustrated. I convinced him that taking pictures of the moon was really hard (not a lie) and that he should work on other subjects first.

So anyway, we came back inside and I let him take some shots around the house with my 50mm and then he hit up Daddy for the point and shoot. I was watching him take photos and thouroughly enjoying it. He has really been showing an interest in taking pictures for a while now it is so fun to watch him "see" what he thinks would make a cool photo.

He all of a sudden announces that our hall light actually looks like the moon. So he ran around and turned off all of the other lights in the house and took a photo of the light. I watched him look at the display screen and kind of scrunch up his face...and then I watched him walk directly under the light and take another shot.(loving that green paint, aren't you? LOL)

He looked at the display screen after and said "oh yeah baby! Gotcha!" and was so excited. He came running over to show me that he got his own photo of the moon. I was so impressed that he figured out how to compose the shot to get it to look more like what he wanted...the kid is a natural...and the photo wasn't half bad! (I only cropped it in PS)

By the way, I did get a photo of the real thing too....

Wow, you two did great with those "moon" shots!! Did you mention that your woodwork is not actually green but a reflection of the walls? LOL
