I've got a rough job...

actually, I've got lots of jobs- some rougher than others, but that is another blog entry. I just didn't have a lot to blog about today so I thought I'd share a couple of photos I took today. These photos are promotional photos for this which is pretty exciting for our little town and for Todd's martial arts school. I'm pretty excited to see my photos on the poster! I'll share when it is done by the fight's graphic artists.

Thank you so much for the input on my next BPS class, I really appreciate it. One thing that I am working on is going through my photos from 2009 and cleaning them off of my working drive, making sure that they are backed up and taking inventory for future projects. I am thinking that is going to help me quite a bit as I figure out what I want to do next.

As part of that process, I'm really forcing myself to choose a group of highlight photos from each month plus a reasonable number of the best, most representative photos and dump the rest. Sometimes it is really hard to delete a lot of photos...but the reality is I don't need to store 500-1000 photos a month. I'm still fine-tuning my process...but I did get Jan 09 cleaned up.

I thought it might be fun as I do this to share some photos from the same month a year ago...so here are a few highlights from Jan 09. I can't believe we've only had Pearl a year...seriously, by the amount of things she's eaten and the the mounds of hair I've vacuumed  (and ok...by the snuggles and doggie kisses too) it seems like she's been a member of this family forever. 

Its my blog and I'll do what I want to...

First of all, I want to thank everyone for the support on the new site. I'm looking forward to adding to it and spiffing things up around the ole blog soon too. I am going to fold the old photo blog into this one...and finally make use of the categories around here etc.

I know my posts are pretty photography heavy right now, but this is still my personal blog....and I'm going to keep it that way. I don't want anyone to think that I'm going all photography all of the time...I'm still going to share silly stories, brain dumping rambles and whatever else pops into my head. I'm also still going to blog about scrapbooking, because this photography gig is not instead of scrapbooking for me. I am still scrapbooking and always will be.

So I guess my photography clients that click on the "visit blog" may find out more about me than they really wanted to, and my friends that want to see what Pearl has eaten lately may have to see more photos I've taken than they want to...but that is my plan and I'm sticking to it.

So now...a few photos of a completely scrumptious boy that happens to belong to one of my dearest friends. We took these photos at Long Branch Saloon and Farms which is so so so cool. I have more to say about this place, and this friend and this boy, and many more photos to share tomorrow. But I know that his mother is clicking refresh and calling me obscene names (with love of course) because I haven't posted anything yet.

So here is just a taste....more tomorrow (I promise).

I guess it is official...

I should be old enough to know to never say never. Since the dawn of scrapbookers turning pro photographers a few years ago, I said on more than one occasion that it wasn't something that I would do. Yet here I am...and to be honest, I'm totally giddy about it.

I'm so excited....seriously.

Tonight I got to work with twin boys that are going to be senior reps for me that were not only handsome, but just totally fabulous kids. I can't wait to share their photos, look for them tomorrow night.  But anyway, when I got home I was trying to tell Matt how much fun I had.  The best word I could come up with was that for me photography is a total rush...and it is.

I know it sounds lame (and I was assured today that lame is still a viable term) but I actually get a little weak in the knees after a shoot. It is kind of like I just jumped out of a plane or something, not that I would know what it feels like to jump out of a plane (nor do I intend to find out) but I'm just sayin' this photography gig prety dang exciting.

So I'm going for it...

and this is now out there....with my heart and some hopes...and some images of some wonderful people.

So thank you to everyone who has cheered me on as I've gotten this off of the ground....I appreciate it more than you know. 

I'm not sure what is up with the plane references, but I'll stick with it and say that my seat belt is firmly fastened and I am totally looking forward to this ride!!

beach weather

It has been seriously hot here. You have to realize that we aren't very good at hot weather here...we are pretty wimpy. It started over the weekend at Alex's game. Too hot. I was going to post some photos, but Moriah did a great job of it already. We were the crazy people with 3 cameras pointed at the same 2 kids! I do love those photos of Todd and Alex together....mine look much the same...only taken from farther away and through 2 layers of fence.

Today we tried for a little more boys hanging out and having fun together. Alex is on spring break and Todd had minimum day so we decided to check out the beach, because did I mention? It is dang hot.

 

Therefore the beach wasn't exactly an original idea. 

We weren't there too long, and Alex didn't really care for the stretch of beach that we chose...but Todd had a blast. It was embarrassing really, we live like a 1/4 mile away and the kid thought it was a really cool treat to go there.

Note to self: more beach trips this summer.

Once again my boy managed to surround himself with girls....big surprise. The giggles however, were phenomenal.
