the girls...

Today we took the girls to the beach...well to be fair, we took more  boys to the beach than girls...two little boys and 2 big ones....but my photos were all about the girls.

 
Ok...I did take a photo or two of my boy too....

This was Pearl's first real swim experience...she LOVED it...she's still snoring on the couch, but she loved it. Look at this smile.

She did a better job fetching and swimming than I expected...but that was most likely because her BFF is pretty much a rock star at both.

All Pearl had to do was race Fiona to the ball and she was good to go...there were some moments of contact fetch...but they were really good girls.

At one point as the girls were swimming their twins from down the beach jumped in on the action...it was a labapalooza.

Then Todd decided he wanted to catch the ball with his net...it took quite a few tries, but he finally got one. The girls weren't sure what to make of that.

 

It was a wonderful way to start a Sunday.

Who'd a thunk?

I've got to tell you, this whole "Year of Me" thing has been a hoot so far. I'm doing a lot of new things and really loving it. Each time I've trained I've learned something new. We do things from yoga, stretching, weights, resistance, cardio, and stuff that I don't even know where it comes from but I just do it.

Pretty much I just show up and do whatever he tells me to do, and if you know me, that is amazing all by itself. I have no idea what is coming from one minute to the next, one week to the next, but I totally trust the process. I have sore muscles that I have long thought were dead and gone, and I feel stronger already so I'm just rolling with the punches (pa dum dum). 

So anyway, last Thursday he tossed some boxing and hitting of the heavy bag into the mix. As I was punching he said "oh, I think we found something you really like!" I did really like it...I actually kind of loved it...which no doubt means he will make me work even harder next time, especially now that I got my own cute purple gloves (instead of the scary sweaty loaner ones). It just cracks me up that I'm now a person that owns boxing gloves...I wonder what other kinds of crazy things I'm going to do this year? Who knows, I'm just going to keep doing what I'm told.

Someone who isn't doing what she's told is dear Pearl...also known as the big bad wolf. She ate the plastic box, so Matt took the door off of it and put it on her wooden house. She's attempted to eat some of that too...sigh.

As I look at her over on the chair her throne snoring away so beautifully I just wish I could trust her to behave...but alas not yet my friends, not yet.

How the heck did I forget to blog yesterday? There goes the record.

Speaking of records, this may just break Pearl's record for bad behavior. With all of the rain, we just haven't had the heart (or enough hot water and dog soap) to put her outside. She does have a new house out there, but even so. So these last few rainy days we've put her in her kennel. Now this is just for a couple of hours max, and I've been so happy at how happy she seems going in and coming out. We were thinking it was all good. So this morning Matt and I came home from out little art lesson at school and guess who greeted us at the door?

Of course the first thought was that we didn't fully latch the door on the kennel...but noooooo.....there was a different problem.

I swear that dog is going to be the death of me.

a day at the rodeo...

no not the real rodeo...the rodeo that is my life!

I was planning to share some photos of another gorgeous soon to be senior, but it will have to be tomorrow.

Yesterday didn't quite go as planned when my child woke up not feeling so hot AGAIN, and ended up with his asthma acting up in a pretty bad way. He was pretty tight and wheezy and coughing his head off and the usual bag of tricks wasn't quite working. So we were able to speak with the doctor and start a course of steroids to help him out. The good news is that he is much better. The bad news is that the 'roid rage hyperactivity is a wild ride.

Not that this requires steroids, this rodeo is pretty standard around here. Todd and Pearl run and chase each other on a daily basis, but today I finally grabbed the camera.

It usually starts with Todd teasing her with one of her toys. This toy is a favorite...it is the "ex boyfriend" and she kicks his ass on a regular basis.

From there it is just a blurry circle of boy and dog running from one end of the room to the other, jumping on and off of the chair, giggling, yapping and otherwise having a great time.

Ears fly...

and even dogs fly....

and though it is probably totally inappropriate for a blurry circle of boy and dog to jump on and off of furniture, it is pretty funny...and a good kind of crazy in a world with way too much bad crazy to go around.
