First of all, this trip was absolutely amazing and wonderful. It was a last minute date change that lead us to head out with just a few days notice. This was the only way that we could guarantee being all together and while I love Disneyland more than most people, being all together is totally the best part.
As I was packing for this trip, I decided I wanted to leave my camera home and just use my iphone camera. At the last minute, Moriah made me blink and I packed my camera, but once I got there, I never took it out of the case. It was nice to travel light and to not worry about knocking my camera around, or about settings or lenses or anything else. It has also been nice not to think about processing...I used the shake it app on my phone and I was off to the races. I mean, come on...I am actually posting photos on the day we got home!
And while none of these are award winning or wall-art worthy, but they tell the story of most everything I loved about one of the best vacations I've ever had.
From the beautiful morning light on the way out of town, and my husband's hot forearms and cute gas pumping smile. To the view of the back of my parent's car as we followed to pick up the big boys...and those icons of the entry to the park that always make me want to scream out..."we're here!!" I loved sharing with Todd why Michael Jackson was such a "big deal", screaming my head off...and even getting wet on even a cold day. I loved that Todd gathered a flock at lunch one day and that his shopping helped refine his new sense of fashion.
I loved getting photos of everyone together in all of the different
combinations that we hang out in...I love these people more than
anything...love to hear them laugh...love to watch them with each
other...look into their glasses...follow their mouse ears...gather their
favorite toys...clink glasses with them. I love that my mom almost drank a whole Pina Colada!! I loved the rides...saying good morning and good night (and often good afternoon) to the Matterhorn monster...and playing games with Todd to find new things on the "blue boats" (aka Small World).
I loved the pool time and Todd's backflips and Alex truly swimming like I've always known he would. I loved the new World of Color water show and the way I feel every time I see Tinkerbell fly over that dang castle...that magic does not get old for me.
I love that my husband wore his princess hat with pride, since it was his punishment for not riding the Tower of Terror...I loved that I did ride the tower of terror with my child, even though I didn't breathe. I loved that since I've been working out I didn't want to die with every step I walked for a change. I loved watching Alex try new foods, and making Todd listen to the words of Lincoln, loved hot BBQ, cold margaritas and fresh Churros. Loved that we managed to connect with a dear friend for the traditional cocoa and girl talk.
I love that my boy loves every minute...almost as much as his cousin, and that together they make everything fun for the rest of us. I love that we almost made it to midnight that last night, even if both boys cried that vacation was over.
I did not love dropping my Dad and Geoff off at the boat on the way home today, but it was part of the deal and I'm just so grateful that we were able to work things out so that we could have this time together.
I love that I've actually updated my blog with vacation photos before real life sneaks back in and steals my mojo on the subject!
